Hitting the road in the autumn

Uncategorized

Since I released "While we sleep tonight", my third album last year, things have been busy. I've played gigs all across the country including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Minehead, Skegness, Carlisle, Southampton, Beverley, Sheffield, Coventry, Portsmouth, Bury St Edmunds, Derby, Nottingham, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Leeds, Essex, Hull, Uttoxeter, Cambridge... you get the idea.

I've also been invited to play at Greenbelt, Spring Harvest, Grapevine, New Wine, Tramlines and Kingstock festivals and have a track played a couple of times on BBC Radio 2, so it seems a good time to say a big "thank you" to everyone who's organised a gig, bought a CD, shared a link or otherwise helped. I'm really, truly grateful.

In September, it will be a year since the album was unleashed, and I wanted to book in some special concerts to celebrate. I'm still finalising details and the set list, but these will be slightly different to the gigs I've been doing so far. Ideas currently in the mix include:

  • some new songs, as-yet unheard
  • some new arrangements of old songs, possibly including me playing the piano
  • usingvisuals/video alongside the songs to unpack the lyrics

a version of "The Need for Biscuits" played backwards, arranged for Ocarina, Nose flute and washboard

Needless to say, it's going to be a special evening with one or two surprises.

And this is where I need your help. Again.

I'm looking for bookings initially between September and December this year (2012) to be part of the tour. The event will work in cafes, churches, house concerts, small theatre-style venues, and can be a solo show, or we can add additional musicians depending on space/budget. It could work as part of an event you're already running, or as a special, one-off event.

If you've organised gigs before, you'll know what's involved. If not, don't worry - we can provide publicity materials and general advice and support. There are some costs involved but we're working to keep them to a minimum. All we need is a good space and a power socket - we can bring everything else.

Sound good? If you'd be interested in hosting an event, please email paul[at]paulbellmusic.com to register your interest. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to help.

I like that, I like that very much!
