Today has been a "writing" day. When the house is quiet, I like to sit with my guitar and an iPad full of lyrical ideas to try and beat some of them into shape. For the first time, I made a list of the songs I'm excited about, and considering for my next recording project, and there were rather a lot! In various states of finishedness from one song that I've been playing out at gigs over recent weeks and months (a little ditty with the working title of "Still got a way to go"), to some that are just a one line thing. Most are somewhere in the middle.

This list feels like the start of the process that will culminate in me hitting "Upload" on these songs and getting them out into the big wide world. And I'm not convinced it gets any easier - every time it feels like starting from scratch. And maybe that's how it should be.

These are songs of the journey. Songs of wrestling with uncertainty. Songs informed by what's going on in the world at large as well as what's going on in my world.

I will try and blog more about the process, which I think will be a little different from last time. I have a few ideas, but I'm sure the end result won't be quite as I'm imagining it now. I'm excited about it though.
